Haven't posted in awhile...

I got to thinking about my luck, or better yet, my lack of it. Case in point: back in the day, sometime in ’98 my dad decided (well more that I nagged him enough so that he gave in) that we were going to get a computer for our dingy little studio apartment. I was quite excited at the time. My last computer was sold off before we had to move out of our house before the Sheriff evicted us. I did not know of this, but I guess I had an idea when my dad packed the car with as much as he could fit in it, and left rest of it in the house. So I was tasked to fine a decent computer for the price near by, which was hard to do before the internet and even a computer at all, but I found one in Chamblee, and we went over there. We got an IBM 486 computer running Windows 3.1. By 1998, this was hopelessly backwards, but for 400 dollars we got a complete system with printer, something my dad wanted. We were always tight for money, and that was pushing the limits of our reserves, but I was excited and we got it home and I was busily putting it together while watching TV. It is odd the things you remember, but I remember the exact thing I was watching that day: it was an MST3k episode. It was the first airing of their episode of the movie “Gorgo.” Odd how those little things stick in your memory, but I can’t remember what I wore yesterday. I remember my dad always talking about having to save money to fix our car if it broke down, I agreed with him obviously, but in the back of my head I did not give two winks about that. My little brain was focused on that computer; I wished that nothing would happen to derail my attempts to get a computer. Thankfully nothing did that day; it was only the DAY AFTER that the car broke down. How’s that for luck? I always felt a little dirty for wanting something so bad that I didn’t care what if anything bad could happen afterwards. I’ve tried to change that, and not be so tunnelvisioned.

My day yesterday: full of fail

1) did crappily on my midterm for weight lifting class, will probably have to retake the test next week to pass

2) Forgot my CPR packet for my CPR practical, had to run to the bookstore to buy a new one, and be late for my test

3) Got a ticket for parking in a faculty parking space. First parking ticket I've ever gotten.

Yep. Full of fail.

Had to give the two cats flea baths last night, wish we had something like this:

While we were give jazzy her bath, she gave us this look of pure hate. I had this song stuck in my head while we scrubbing her down:

Squeaker just cried and tried to run away.

Been trying to organize my music collection. I have way too much music I've downloaded over he years, and I have never really gone through it. I really dislike how iTunes is such a bitch about downloading album art. It refuses to load the artwork if all the meta information is not present. It is a real pain, unlike Media Player, which has a handy search feature, but I have to use iTunes to transfer to my iPhone so it is always so much fun! On the music front, i bought a CD today at the local flea market, a KISS cover album, for 3 bucks. Most of the songs were pretty well performed. Garth Brooks' rendition of Hard Luck Woman was great, while Toad the Wet Sprocket did a horrible job at Detroit Rock City. I guess with covers, it is hit and miss.

IMDB follies

Go on to IMDB, and search your favorite actor. What is a movie that suprised you that they were in? What is the worst movie they were in? Are they working on an upcoming movie, and if so, what movie?

It's been awhile...

I was thinking last Saturday about things, like most people do after a birthday, and it dawned on me that it was exactly three months since my father had died. It was just kinda weird, like going into a room and noticing something was missing, but you already knew it had been taken. It was something like that, but less metaphorical. In other news, I took my teacher content area tests on Saturday. I did fine on the social studies end of it, but I am not so confident on the science side of the coin. I guess we shall see.

Two weeks to remember

On December 29th, 2008, my father passed away, leaving my side of the family tree bare. I have been debating on whether or not to even to mention it, but I figured it might help to vent.
